About Helpers Table

A table for the people
doing the work.

Helpers Table is a simple idea with a single purpose. Get the people who serve this city in one room, and let them help each other.

Why We Exist

The help is already here.
It just isn't connected.

Pittsburgh does not have a shortage of good people. It has a shortage of good people who know each other. Walk through any neighborhood and you will find someone feeding families, housing the homeless, mentoring kids, running a pantry, leading recovery. Quietly. Faithfully. And almost always alone.

That is the part that never sat right with us. So much effort, so little of it pointed in the same direction. The person who needs a meal, a bed, and a job is talking to three helpers who have never met. Each one solves a slice. Nobody sees the whole.

Helpers Table exists to close that gap. Not with an app. Not with a directory nobody updates. With a table, real chairs, and the kind of conversation that turns a stranger into the first call you make when someone needs what you cannot give.

What We Believe

A few simple convictions.

🤝

Helpers need help too

The people who carry everyone else are usually carrying it alone. Someone should ask what they need. Here, someone does.

🧭

Connection beats coordination

You cannot org-chart your way to trust. You build it face to face, one honest conversation at a time.

Time is the real currency

Helpers are stretched thin. We guard their hours like they matter, because they do. Tight in, tight out, always worth it.

The Picture

We're all rowing.
Just not together.

Picture every helper in this city in one boat. Right now, everyone is pulling as hard as they can, in their own direction. All that effort, half of it cancelling itself out.

Now imagine the same boat, everyone facing the same way, pulling together. Same people. Same effort. A completely different distance. That's the whole idea behind Helpers Table.

Who's Behind It

It's not about one founder.
It's about the table.

Helpers Table is not a personal brand or a platform for one person's story. It started with a small group of Pittsburgh people who kept noticing the same thing. The helpers they admired were exhausted, isolated, and often a single introduction away from a breakthrough they never got.

So we set a table. The mission is bigger than any one of us, and on purpose. Every person who pulls up a chair makes it stronger. You are not the audience here. You are the reason it works.

We are faith-friendly and family-friendly. You do not have to share a belief to belong. You just have to care about people and be willing to give as much as you get.

There's a chair with your name on it.

We are forming the first table now. If you serve others in Pittsburgh, we would love to have you.
